San Antonio
It’s been a hell of a year with work, the move to Texas, covid situation still kind of lingering and causing uncertainties.
Glenn had vacation time and we decided to travel down to San Antonio. I booked us a studio via airbnb and off we were. This was also a first lengthy trip for me also. I haven’t really taken a real real vacation (longer than a weekend) in years.
We didn’t have any hard plans but the thing is, I just found out I’m pregnant. Eeekk… so I was overly sensitive to many things. I didn’t want to overexert myself, or be around this or that blah blah…. Glenn carried all the heavy bags, did all the heavy lifting and we were off.

We arrived a bit too early to check in so we hung out at a nearby restaurant.

I do not normally have a sweet tooth but apparently it was my pregnancy craving.

It was hot and extremely humid for us PNW’er’s still adjusting to the South. We enjoyed a first visit to the riverwalk and saw there were a lot of activities to enjoy during our stay here. plus all the restaurants. I was bummed that I couldn’t drink. It was nice though, I had done some research and had a basic itinerary of some things we could do to explore San Antonio in the short 5 days we will be here.

We spent a lot of time enjoying the riverwalk. It was never super crowded during our time here but I could see it getting pretty busy.

We shared a steak and some sides from Saltgrass along the riverwalk, not too far from our room. It was my first time here, Im almost always a “yes” for steak but boo for not being able to enjoy the ice cold beer like Glenn.

We visited the Alamo but did not pay to go inside. We walked around to check out the gift shop.

We kept walking and found what I saw is called Historic Market Square on google maps. We checked it out and I couldn’t help myself and bought a little outfit for our future babe. I didn’t think about it at the time but should have selected a gender neutral outfit. I guess because I grew up in a house of girls and my sister had two daughters, it was where my mind naturally gravitated.

This was a lot of walking and I did get light headed, almost collapsed. Eventually we went to a nearby bakery and I grabbed more cookies. Who am I? I thought I hated sweets.
I also bought this super cool wooden cow skull decor that I ended up really gravitating towards.

Tresor: 310 E Houston St, San Antonio, TX 78205
oh I love this store. It was such a nonchalant store but we ended up stepping in and loving a lot of pieces from here. Before we left, we ordered some pieces which we were able to have shipped to our home.

I wanted to go back to Tresor everyday and funny enough when I was in the store, I was so scared that I was going to break everything too.
Craving asian food- Kimura: 1017 N Flores St, San Antonio, TX 78212
I know I should be able to go longer eating non asian foods, but I can’t. so we found a restaurant on the map and headed towards it. I will say, it did the job on satisfying my craving but it wasn’t the best asian food I’ve had. That being said, the food wasn’t bad.

More riverwalk explorations, it did get a bit boring after a few days. Mainly because it was hot and I was always sweaty. I was too tired to come back at night but perhaps it would have been a different vibe then.

Somehow on the windiest day of all time, we decided to go up to the top of the Tower of the Americas. I’ve been up the Space Needle a few times and found the view of Seattle a bit nicer.

More beer, more envy from me. Overall, making memories.

Witte Museum: 3801 Broadway, San Antonio, TX 78209
I love museums but I know museums aren’t for everyone. Randomly, back in OC I would visit various museums if I had time. Stroll around, look at art and enjoy the steps along with the beauty.
Luckily, Glenn did not mind that I chose most of the activities including what we ate. He seemed to enjoy the museums also. He was careful to look at different aspects of the exhibits and would point anything he found interesting and I did the same.

We wrapped up our trip with a visit to a multi floor antique shop and some more visits to the riverwalk. We visited a mall and enjoyed the indoor ac. Eventually, we headed back home to DFW and have closed the books on our trip here. Now onto becoming parents!
