Planning Our Wedding
Glenn proposed, I said yes, so now what? Do I plan a wedding? Where? We just moved to Texas and know like two people here and our family is spread mostly on the west coast, would they fly over to attend our wedding?
Also, who knows how people feel about attending places after the whole pandemic situation. I googled zoom weddings to see if officials would do weddings remotely. Is that a thing? Apparently, it is a thing and we could get married in gym clothes in our bedroom, perfect.
Figuring out an actual wedding was going to be tough, I started planning around September and scheduling anything with Glenn’s schedule in mind is nearly impossible. I used the internet to brainstorm other options and knew I just didn’t want a courthouse wedding. Nothing wrong with it at all, just not what I wanted.
Eventually, I landed on doing an elopement. This would be the best option because I wouldn’t have to worry about flying my family out to TX and schedule conflicts. Glenn’s schedule was still an issue but I got to planning.
I looked into places that offered a package so we could just let the planning be done for us. I also started looking at dresses online. I didn’t need a full gown but still wanted a nice white dress. Eventually I stumbled upon Inn on Lake Granbury. A small bed and breakfast near a lake that is less than 2 hours away from us. Perfect. They took care of all the details like the the cake, the grounds (indoor or outdoor), sparkling beverage, small wedding cake, there were daily hors d’oeuvres and a glass of wine. We paid extra for the room but with discount and the minister was also provided.

As for the date of the wedding, I was so set on getting married on New Years Day 2022. The perfect start to the year, the perfect start to our wedding. So I booked it. The venue had the availability so we proceeded. I got to planning, Glenn did too. He ordered a custom made beige suit. I ordered a gorgeous dress from Lulu’s. Remember, Glenn’s schedule was not confirmed. I kept saying to him “I hope you can attend our wedding”. It was funny but also…. Not funny.
We literally didn’t have confirmation that Glenn could attend the wedding until about mid November. Talk about Stress.
Pregnant – I had to get a new dress around October or November because I found out I was pregnant and realized I would be nearly halfway through the pregnancy at the time of the elopement.
